Chitika eMiniMalls - Are they worth it?
Written on August 14th 2007 at 11:00 pm by alexChitika is an interesting ad serving company. They really thought outside the box while coming up with some of their features. But if you're going to break away from the crowd, you have to be uniquely creative. But were they creative enough to bring in good advertisers and publishers to help get the job done? Let's find out. Here is an example of a Chitika eMiniMall:
It Stands Out!
Yes it does. But is it really such a bad thing? Well I guess it depends on the layout of your website. As I mentioned before in the Kontera review, the ad style should slow with your website layout. If you run a website with just text, any image will catch the reader's eye, but seeing as it's not usually associated with your article they quickly write it off as an ad. If this is the case, Chitika might not be right for you, but keep reading.
Style and Products and Keywords, Oh My!
If you do have a website with semi-mixed content, finding a place for Chitika eMiniMalls shouldn't be much of a hassle. They offer the usual leatherboard, banner, half banner, button, squares and skyscrapers. They also have "Multi-Product" banners that features just that, more than one product. If you're running a skyscraper or a leatherboard, consider the multi-product, otherwise it gets pretty crowded in that small space. Finally you can choose to run your ad from a pre-specified category, or choose up to 10 keywords to choose advertisements from.
My Luck, So Far
I'll be honest, I've tested Chitika eMiniMalls before, but it wasn't on a traditional website, it was inside a Facebook application. It's only averaging about 300 impressions per day, but throughout the last month I've only earned $1.02. Not pretty. But we're going to give it another shot here, and I suggest you do the same on your website. More money is never a problem, right?
The Bottom Line
The minimum payout for publishers $10.00 for PayPal and $50.00 for Check, all payments are monthly. Chitika also offers a nice little referral system. You earn 10% of your referral's earnings for 15 months. Not a bad deal at all. - View comments...
