Magnitude 5.9 earthquake hits Sumatra Indonesia

The United States Geological Service is reporting this morning that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake has hit the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. Currently there are no tsunami warnings, but this could change at any minute.

The last earthquake to strike in Sumatra Indonesia was on December 26th, 2004. The previous earthquake was a 9.0 magnitude. Over the last 15 years, Sumatra has taken 10 earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 or higher.
