Barack Obama begins looking for a Vice Presidential nominee

Written on Thursday, May 22nd 2008 at 9:58 am by alex

Officials in the Obama campaign have begun a top-secret search to find a running mate for Obama. Former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson is leading the process to begin vetting potential vice presidential picks. Johnson did the same thing for Kerry in 2004, and Mondale in 1984.

Officials say the effort is being handled by a particularly tight circle of advisers. The Obama campaign does not want to discuss the effort because they are still engaged in a fading primary campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Finally, the Obama campaign is taking behind-the-scenes steps to move toward the general election campaign, because they are just 60 delegates short of capturing the nomination. - View comments...
