Stephanie Tubbs Jones dead at 58 years old
Written on Wednesday, August 20th 2008 at 11:23 am by alexUpdate - We have reports that Mrs. Jones passed away earlier this afternoon. Her husband passed away in 2003, her only surviving relative is her son.
Update - Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, is reported to have suffered an aneurysm and is not expected to recover. WOIO also reported that the congresswoman is on life support at this time.
News reports are coming in that U.S. Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones is in a local area hospital, unconscious. The official word at this point: "things are looking grim".
Police pulled over Stephanie Tubbs Jones' car last night after they observed her swerving in an our of lanes. Police say the found her unconscious at the wheel of her car and transported her to the hospital.
She remains unconscious in the hospital at this point. When things get better (or, worse), we will bring you that news right away.
Tubbs Jones, 58, was the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress when she was elected in 1998. She is currently serving in her fifth term in Congress, where she is the chairwoman of the House Ethics Committee.
