What is pine bark extract?

Written on Sunday, September 21st 2008 at 11:11 am by alex

Pine bark extract is an inflammation-fighting plant extract that gives a new kind of pain relief to people with knee arthritis. The pink bark extract is derived from the bark of the "French Maritime Pine Tree", and provide pain relief for people with osteoarthritis.

Researchers found that knee arthritis sufferers who took the pine bark extract for three months reported an improvement in their pain, while those given a placebo had no improvement.

This lasting benefit is not something that is seen with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which are normally prescribed to patients with this pain.

The patients pain gradually fades away during the treatment, and that the therapeutic effects of the extract remain up to two weeks after the treatment has been stopped. - View comments...
