There are different types of hosting. For example, shared hosting means you will share that server with other people (say, 50 other people). So if somebody else's website gets a lot of traffic, it could slow down your website. The advantage to this is the cost for shared hosting is low. You can also get dedicated hosting which will cost a lot more, but you get full control over the server, and nobody else can use it.
